Further statements on the Bird Flu issued by EFSA

In January 2004, EFSA has published a darft declaration, stating that there is no evidence of the Bird Flu virus propagating via the food chain:

In another declaration issued on September 12, 2005, EFSA has provided information on its activities concerning the regulation of animal health and conditions in poultry farms which have been prompted by the appearance of the bird flu, and has repeated the suggestions given by the WHO on the proper transportation, handling and preparation of poultry products:

In a Report dated September 20, 2005 on the issues relating to animal health and poultry farming conditions that have been raised by the bird flu, EFSA has provided information on the possibility of the Bird Flu infections of poultry in Europe, and has made suggestions for preventative measures against the virus infecting and spreading in European poultry farms. This report has provided the scientific basis for the animal health aspects of the Bird Flu risk management measures currently in operation in Europe:
