19 prominent firms in the poultry industry who account for 85 percent of chicken meat production in Turkey have established the Healthy Chicken Meat Platform. The platform will cooperate with organizations such as BESD-BiR (White Meat Producers and Poultry Breeders Association) and TÜRKiYEM-BiR (Turkish Animal Feed Industry Association). The objectives of the platform include the following:

• To raise consumers’ and media members’ awareness of healthy chicken meat production and consumption ;
• to effectively convey reliable information on chicken meat production and consumption standards ;
• to emphasize the importance of chicken meat in a healthy diet ;
• to ensure that all institutions involved in food production adopt international systems and strict product standards in the field of food safety ; and
• to provide reliable information to the public in an effort to combat unfair and unfounded claims that harm the industry .
